Greetings, and Happy New Year! This is Evan, co-founder of Climatebase.
With the deadline to apply to The Climatebase Fellowship rapidly approaching, I wanted to kick off 2026 by sharing a few standout wins from Climatebase Fellows and alumni from the last year — new jobs, career moves, and fellow-founded startups gaining traction.
One quick stat that still blows my mind: since our last cohort wrapped in early December, nearly 50 Fellows have already landed new roles in climate and sustainability.
But before I dive into some of the countless wins from our Fellowship community, a few key reminders:
Applications are open for the Cohort 9 of The Climatebase Fellowship — the climate career accelerator for ambitious, mission-driven professionals.
Who it’s for: If you’re job searching, leveling up in a climate role, or building an early-stage climate venture, the Fellowship is built for you.
Cohort 9 dates: March 16 – June 5, 2026. Priority application deadline: January 12, 2026. Apply now.
A few standout Fellowship wins
New roles + big career moves
Since Cohort 8 ended in early December, nearly 50 Fellows have landed new roles — here are a few highlights, plus other standout moves across the community:
Jen Johnson stepped into a leadership role as Director of Marketing & Communications at the Skoll Foundation.
Cecilia Rodriguez transitioned from health tech into climate impact and joined Terraformation, supporting native ecosystem restoration and planetary health.
Frederick Bell joined the Center for American Progress as Associate Director of State Climate Policy.
Carol Viana was selected to join the Secretariat of a UN Decade initiative, supporting global systems-level work toward more resilient, nature-positive communities.
Fiona Martin contributed graphic design to “Forest Feud,” a Seattle Times story that received a 2025 Online Journalism Award.
After pivoting from big tech into carbon removal, Marlous Tyrrell landed a role at Mission Zero Technologies.
Andreana Rosnik leveraged Climatebase connections and the Climate Week Network and is now Director of AI at Marine Biologics.
After building a capstone project focused on climate water action, Chris Wilke advanced into a role as Executive Director at the Center for Environmental Law and Policy.
Leila Hadj-Chikh is now a Full-Stack Engineer at Recover Ag, helping farmers adopt regenerative practices.
Josh Mukhopadhyay started a new role as VP of Legal Affairs at Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Aiman Shahpurwala landed a job as Technical GIS Analyst with Washington State Department of Ecology — but not before she won the grand prize at Seattle’s first Climate Hackathon for an AI tool she developed.
And that’s just a small sample — other Fellows have landed roles at Antora Energy, Schneider Electric, Sylvera, Sesame Solar, and countless more organzations.
Fellow-founded startups + capstone projects
Gabriel Luna Ng co-founded Moon Five, an EV charging startup that received a $3.4M grant to deploy charging units across California.
Travaras, a regenerative travel platform founded by Jennifer Loh, passed its $1.54M pre-seed round to help make sustainable travel the norm.
Copper, co-founded by Weldon Kennedy, was selected through a competitive bid process to partner with the State of New York to electrify cooking appliances in NYC public housing.
Sheila Estaniel is delivering a TEDx talk on fast fashion, rooted in her circularity capstone work with Biloogan.
Katie Thompson’s capstone-project-turned-startup, Bumprints, was cited in a BBC article as an organization reshaping the aviation industry.
Zahary Price’s startup Goal 300 startup is now the largest active durable carbon removal project in Washington state.
After connecting with Lauryn Morris (a Fellowship graduate and the founder of NICE), Brittney Manning is joining the team at NICE — which was recently featured in Fast Company for its work to scale EV conversions and build a circular supply chain for EV components.
Matt Sanda secured USDA Forest Service funding for his capstone-project-turned-startup Upstream Carbon, using AI to support land investment and restoration initiatives.
Paul Moreno received funding from Australia’s Direct Aid Program to support rural Indigenous Ecuadorian farmers through his startup.
These wins represent just a small fraction of the many success stories from the Climatebase Fellowship in 2025.
If you’re curious to hear what the Fellowship is like from other alumni who graduated our last cohort, I encourage you to see what Fellows say about their experience.
